More Details

Enjoy a private getaway on a peaceful island in the Seto Inland Sea. The villa provides a unique portal into the world of local masters, where the ancient traditions of Bizen ware pottery and the meticulous art of the swordsmith are deeply woven into the identity of the stay. Guests have the opportunity to engage with these artisans or join local fishermen on the water, gaining a profound understanding of the land and its people through direct, authentic connection. Here, cultural discovery and quiet solitude exist naturally together. Whether visitors choose to explore the local history or simply enjoy the island atmosphere, the experience remains entirely personal. Complemented by seasonal delicacies including Hinase oysters and premium Bizen Beef, Villa SHINOBI -忍- provides a singular journey, tailored to the guest's own pace and preferences. Villa Shinobi offers a real Japanese Swords Martial Art experience with a performance with a Katana master at the villa, please inquire. At Villa SHINOBI -忍-, experiences are designed to offer a more personal and meaningful way to discover Japan through the culture and landscapes of the Seto Inland Sea. From traditional fishing trips and island cruising to tea ceremony, kimono dressing, soba making, Japanese music, and Japanese sword culture, each experience takes place in a private and relaxed setting shaped by genuine local connections. Activities are led by experienced professionals and welcoming local residents, including fishermen, artisans, performers, and martial arts instructors who share not only their skills, but also the stories and traditions behind them. Some experiences offer rare moments difficult to find elsewhere, such as traditional martial arts demonstrations performed in authentic Edo-period armour. Villa SHINOBI -忍- also offers guided tours in English and French, introducing visitors to the craftsmanship, history, food culture, and hidden places of Bizen and the wider Setouchi region. Run by a Japanese and French couple now based in the region, Villa SHINOBI -忍- grew from a desire to create meaningful exchanges between visitors and the local community, while helping preserve and support the cultural life of the Seto Inland Sea. For Koya, this mission is also deeply personal: part of his family lives on the island, where he spent much of his childhood fishing, exploring, and enjoying local traditions. As an adult, he came to realize the importance of protecting and sharing this culture with the world.
