TANGLE Inc., operating Bottlecap as a TANGLE brand ("Bottlecap," "we," "us," or "our") operates bottlecap.jp.
We collect and process personal information in accordance with applicable laws, including Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information ("APPI").
This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, why we use it, and how it may be shared when you use Bottlecap, create an account, submit an inquiry, or request a reservation.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Bottlecap, we may collect the following information.
Account Information
When you create or use a Bottlecap account, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Country or region of residence
- Account identifiers
- Authentication and login information
- Account preferences
- Other information you choose to provide through your account
Reservation Information
When you submit or complete a Reservation Request, we may collect information such as:
- Requested experience
- Requested date and time
- Number of participants
- Reservation Request status
- Provider acceptance or decline status
- Reservation history
- Information submitted with the Reservation Request
- Communications relating to the reservation
- Transaction and payment status information
Additional information may be collected where reasonably necessary for an experience, such as information relating to dietary requirements, accessibility needs, participant ages, or other participation requirements.
Payment Information
Payments for Bottlecap reservations are processed through third-party payment-processing services, including Stripe.
When required for a Reservation Request, your payment method may be securely collected and saved by our payment-processing provider.
The payment method may remain saved while the experience provider considers your Reservation Request.
Providers have up to 6 days to accept or decline a Reservation Request.
For requests made more than 90 days before the scheduled experience, an authorized payment method may also remain securely saved after provider acceptance until the applicable reservation charge is processed when the experience is within approximately 88 days.
Bottlecap does not intend to directly store complete payment-card numbers or card security codes on its own systems where those details are handled by our payment processor.
Bottlecap may receive or retain payment-related information provided by the payment processor, such as:
- Payment status
- Transaction identifiers
- Payment-method identifiers
- Card brand
- Last digits of a payment card
- Refund information
- Billing information
- Fraud or payment-verification information
When you authorize a payment method to be saved for a Reservation Request, it may be used to process the payment associated with that reservation according to the payment timing disclosed during the Reservation Request process.
Inquiry and Communication Information
We may collect your name, email address, message contents, and other information you provide when you:
- Contact Bottlecap
- Submit an inquiry
- Request support
- Communicate regarding a reservation
- Subscribe to communications
- Submit or recommend a listing
Technical and Usage Information
We may automatically receive information such as:
- IP address
- Browser and device type
- Operating system
- Approximate location
- Language settings
- Referring website
- Pages viewed
- Links clicked
- Cookie identifiers
- General interaction and analytics events
2. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
- Create and operate user accounts
- Authenticate users
- Process Reservation Requests
- Provide Reservation Requests to applicable experience providers
- Communicate acceptance, decline, expiration, payment, cancellation, refund, or other reservation status changes
- Process and administer payments and refunds
- Save an authorized payment method for a later reservation charge
- Maintain a payment method while a Reservation Request is awaiting provider action
- Share necessary reservation information with the applicable experience provider
- Provide customer support
- Respond to inquiries
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized transactions
- Maintain security
- Comply with legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations
- Improve Bottlecap's website and services
- Measure website usage and performance
- Understand interest in experiences and content
- Communicate Bottlecap updates or opportunities where permitted
3. Sharing Information With Experience Providers
When you submit a Reservation Request, Bottlecap may share information necessary for the applicable experience provider to evaluate and fulfill the request.
This may include information such as your name, requested date, number of participants, reservation details, and other information reasonably necessary for the provider to determine whether the Reservation Request can be accepted or to prepare for the experience.
We do not provide experience providers with your complete payment-card information.
4. Payment Processors
Bottlecap uses third-party payment processors, including Stripe, to securely process payments and, where applicable, save payment methods for later use.
Payment processors may collect and process payment information according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
A payment method may be retained by the payment processor while a Reservation Request is pending and, where applicable, after provider acceptance until the authorized payment is processed.
Payment information may also be retained by the payment processor when necessary to administer refunds, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, or otherwise provide payment services.
5. Service Providers
We may use third-party companies to help operate Bottlecap, including providers of:
- Website hosting
- Marketplace and reservation technology
- Payment processing
- Authentication
- Email delivery
- Customer communications
- Analytics
- Cloud storage
- Fraud prevention
- Technical support
These providers may process personal information when necessary to perform services for Bottlecap.
6. External Bookings
Some Bottlecap listings link to external provider websites or third-party booking services.
If you leave Bottlecap and provide personal information directly to another business, that business's privacy policy governs its collection and use of your information.
Bottlecap does not control how an independent provider handles information that you submit directly to that provider outside Bottlecap.
7. Website Analytics and Cookies
Bottlecap may use analytics technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand how people use our website and improve our pages, articles, workshop listings, reservation services, and referral links.
Analytics tools may collect information such as:
- Pages viewed
- Referring websites
- Device and browser information
- Approximate location
- Language settings
- Clicked links
- Cookie identifiers
- General interaction events
Bottlecap does not intentionally send names, email addresses, phone numbers, Reservation Request message contents, payment-card details, or other directly identifying personal information to Google Analytics.
We may use measures such as data redaction, query-parameter exclusion, and limited event tracking to reduce the risk of personal information being transmitted through analytics systems.
You may be able to disable or restrict cookies through your browser or device settings.
8. External Transmission of User Information
Certain third-party technologies may cause information from your browser or device to be transmitted to outside service providers.
Google Analytics
Provider: Google LLC
Information that may be transmitted: page URL, browser and device information, approximate location, referral source, interaction events, cookie identifiers, and similar usage information.
Purpose: website analytics, service improvement, content planning, and understanding interest in Bottlecap pages and services.
Google Tag Manager
Provider: Google LLC
Information that may be transmitted: tag execution information, page URL, browser and device information, and website interaction information.
Purpose: management of analytics and website measurement technologies.
Payment Processing
Provider: Stripe and other payment-processing services used by Bottlecap
Information that may be transmitted: payment-card information entered into the payment interface, billing information, transaction information, fraud-prevention information, device information, and other information necessary to process or authorize a payment method.
Purpose: securely saving authorized payment methods, collecting reservation payments, processing refunds, preventing fraud, and administering transactions.
Affiliate and Referral Links
Provider: the applicable partner website, booking platform, or affiliate platform
Information that may be transmitted: clicked link, referral source, page URL, tracking or cookie identifier where applicable, and similar referral information.
Purpose: measuring referrals and partner performance.
Embedded Maps, Videos, and Third-Party Content
Provider: the applicable content provider, such as Google, YouTube, mapping providers, or video platforms
Information that may be transmitted: IP address, browser and device information, page URL, interaction information, and other information needed to display the content.
Purpose: providing maps, videos, and other embedded website functions.
9. Data Retention
Bottlecap retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including operating accounts, managing pending Reservation Requests, managing accepted reservations, maintaining transaction records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and satisfying legal, accounting, tax, or regulatory obligations.
Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.
A Reservation Request that is declined or automatically expires may still generate records that Bottlecap retains for operational, security, analytical, or legal purposes.
Closing or deleting an account does not necessarily result in the immediate deletion of all information associated with that account where Bottlecap is required or reasonably permitted to retain records.
10. Account Closure and Deletion
You may request closure of your Bottlecap account.
Where permitted by applicable law, Bottlecap may retain information relating to past transactions, Reservation Requests, reservations, payments, refunds, disputes, fraud prevention, or legal compliance even after an account has been closed.
Saved payment methods that are no longer required may be removed or detached in accordance with the capabilities and legal obligations of the applicable payment processor.
11. Security
Bottlecap takes reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
Payment-card information is handled through specialized payment-processing systems rather than intentionally stored as complete card information on Bottlecap's own systems.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Rights
Subject to the APPI and other applicable laws, you may have rights regarding personal information held by Bottlecap, including requesting:
- Disclosure
- Correction
- Addition or deletion
- Suspension of use
- Deletion where legally applicable
- Suspension of certain third-party provision
Requests may be subject to identity verification and legal exceptions.
13. Marketing and Transactional Communications
Bottlecap may send service-related communications necessary to operate your account or reservation.
These may include notifications concerning:
- Reservation Request submission
- Provider acceptance or decline
- Automatic expiration of a Reservation Request
- Payment collection
- Cancellation
- Refunds
- Reservation changes
- Account security
These operational communications are separate from optional marketing communications.
Where required, you may unsubscribe from marketing communications without preventing Bottlecap from sending communications necessary to operate an existing account, Reservation Request, or reservation.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Bottlecap may update this Privacy Policy when our services, technology, or legal obligations change.
Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and, where appropriate, providing additional notice.
