Nikko City is rich in cedar trees, the raw material for cedar incense sticks, as evidenced by the Nikko Cedar Avenue, which is registered in the Guinness World Records as the longest tree-lined road in the world. We value the relaxing fragrance of cedar, which has been loved for long years, and make cedar incense sticks with all our heart, adding new essences to them. Founded in 1940, our company manufactures and sells incense sticks. Initially, we collected cedar leaves from the mountains of Nikko, crushed them with a watermill, and manufactured and sold cedar powder, the raw material for cedar incense sticks. Around 1945, we began manufacturing incense sticks, downsizing our cedar powder production business, and now we focus solely on incense manufacturing and sales. Nikko cedar incense has a high market share nationwide and has long been a popular choice for visiting graves, though this fact is not widely known. Therefore, we are striving to create new products that can be used in homes as well. In addition to cedar incense, we also develop and sell products that meet user needs, such as scented sandalwood and lavender incense, low-smoke incense, and Sanbutsu incense where characters appear in the remaining ash. We hope that everyone will get to know Nikko-made incense and enjoy using it for many years to come. There will guide you through the process of making incense sticks. We will explain the process of making incense sticks while giving you a tour of the factory.
