More Details

Our staff will explain the flow of the experience. At to-an, you can learn about the entire process of creating a piece of art, from pottery wheel experience to glazing and kiln tours. The to-an experience begins with kneading the clay and shaping the core. Afterwards, you'll use a potter's wheel to create your own unique piece. Enjoy the smooth texture of the clay, unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. After the pottery wheel experience, you can apply glaze to a sample piece that has been fired once. (Only the representative can do this.) Then enjoy a kiln tour. If firing is in progress, get closer and feel the temperature. If you're lucky and the kiln is open, you might even get to experience loading it! Finished works will be completed and shipped in approximately 2 months. Shipping fees are separate. When you receive the Kutani ware pottery you created during your experience, we will also include food products, tea, and sake, mainly specialties from Ishikawa Prefecture and Kanazawa. We hope you enjoy a wonderful time using your own creation!
