Founded in Kyoto in 1891 (Meiji 24), Takenaka Woodblock Printing, a long-established woodblock printing company, has inherited a 1200-year-old tradition of woodblock printing and has been involved in many woodblock printing projects that are integral to daily life. While enjoying the beautiful Kyoto courtyard garden, you can experience the entire process of woodblock printing, from design tips and carving techniques using carving tools to the beautiful printing and completion of your artwork. After the two-hour workshop, you can take home five completed printmaking postcards and the woodblock, allowing you to continue making postcards at home. We will provide all the necessary tools and materials for woodblock printing, so you can participate empty-handed. Since it's something you make by hand, let's create a one-of-a-kind piece that's uniquely yours! For those interested in woodblock printing, we offer a variety of courses for those who wish to study in more depth and professionally. Please feel free to inquire about our ""regular classes"" at Takesasado, ""branch classes"" mainly in the Kansai region, and ""correspondence courses"" that can be taken anytime, anywhere in Japan.

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM / 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (approximately 2 hours). Capacity: 8 people per session. *Reservations required at least 3 days in advance (recruitment will close once capacity is reached). Adults: ¥4,400, High school students and younger: ¥3,960 (all prices include tax) / Includes materials and equipment usage fee / Cash payment only Children can also experience making woodblock prints. Since carving tools are used, young children must be accompanied by a guardian.
