The first part of the experience is a story about the history of Japanese swords and how to appreciate them! There may be stories from young swordsmiths that you can't hear anywhere else. [Experience Schedule] 1. Learn about the history of Japanese swords and how to appreciate them. 2. Observe the fire-making process. 3. Fire-making. 4. Annealing. 5. Practice removing the clay. 6. Remove the clay. 7. Hardening. 8. Polishing. 9. Name-cutting. 10. Finished. You can take your sword home on the day! [Duration] 3-5 hours *Depending on the number of participants. The experience itself is offered in Japanese. The swordsman only speaks simple English. ・If you wish to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese sword culture through the experience, we highly recommend hiring an interpreter which we can arrange for you. ・Interpreters are available in English (Add 22,600 JPY)

Additional Terms and Limitations

4 persons max Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. If you are interested, please participate in clothes other than synthetic clothing. (In rare cases, sparks may fly during the experience and cause holes in your clothes.) There are no convenience stores or vending machines nearby, so please bring your own drinks. Those under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a guardian. Part of the process is performed by the swordsmith. If you are late, you will be able to participate in the middle of the tour, and you may not be able to experience part of it. The required time varies depending on the number of participants. Approximate time required ・Up to 2 people: 3-4 hours ・Up to 3-4 people: 4-5 hours *It is also possible for 2 people to make one sword. In that case, the fee will be for one sword. *A craftsman can help you according to the level of the experience You can take your knife home with you after the workshop ends. When flying home, be sure to place your knife in your checked luggage. Just to be safe, we recommend that you to confirm your airline’s baggage rules in advance. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship your knife outside of Japan. If you wish to send your knife to a different country, please arrange shipping while you are in Japan.

Cancellation fee will be charged from 14 days before the event date. 14 days to 8 days prior to the program date: 30% 7 days to 2 days prior: 50% 1 day prior to the program date, on the day of the program: 100%
