The building itself is designated as one of the Arita Uchiyama Important Traditional Buildings. At the time of its opening, it was one of only three museums in the world specializing in ceramics, attracting many visitors from both within and outside the prefecture. Our museum's exhibits were renewed on April 27, 2019, to focus primarily on works from the Meiji period. The museum displays products made by kilns and wealthy merchants, introducing Arita pottery from the Meiji period to the early Showa period. Location: 1-4-2 Otaru, Arita-cho, Nishimatsuura-gun, Saga Prefecture 844-0004 Opening Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Closed on Mondays (If Monday is a public holiday, the museum will be closed the following day) Closed during the New Year holidays (December 29th to January 3rd of the following year) In addition, the museum may be temporarily closed for exhibition changeover work before and after special exhibitions. Admission fee: Adult individual: 120 yen, Group (20 or more people): 80 yen High school students and younger free * Persons with a disability certificate and one accompanying person are admitted free of charge. Please present your certificate. If you would like a guided tour of the exhibits by a staff member, you must apply in advance.
