The strength of vocational schools is that they allow students to acquire various qualifications. Once you acquire qualifications, you can use the skills you acquire for the rest of your life. At our school, students take the Japanese Sewing Proficiency Test, co-sponsored by the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Federation of Japanese Sewing and Dressmaking Organizations, which is proof that they have acquired Japanese sewing skills, as well as the Kimono Culture Proficiency Test, which companies use as hiring criteria, while they are still enrolled, with the aim of acquiring qualifications that will be advantageous for employment. There are also exams such as the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Kimono Dressing Proficiency Test, which will exempt students from the requirement for work experience if they graduate from our specialized course. Kimono Arts Department: A department where you can learn the techniques and knowledge of kimono production in a broad and comprehensive manner. Kimono Technology Department: A department where you can learn mainly Japanese sewing, which is the main part of kimono production. Fashion Department: A department where you can learn both Japanese and Western sewing techniques at the same time. Japanese embroidery class: Japanese embroidery is used to accent kimonos, obi sashes, and accessories. Each piece is finished by hand using a special frame. You can embroider items you have dyed yourself, or you can embroider kimonos and obi sashes you already own to change the look. Dressing class: Kimono dressing classes are taught almost one-on-one by an instructor and an assistant teacher, and students learn both "self-dressing," which involves putting on a kimono and tying an obi, and "other-dressing," which involves helping someone else dress in a kimono and tie the obi. During their time at the school, students will learn a wide range of skills, from everyday wear such as yukata and fashionable clothes to formal wear such as furisode and tomesode, and how to tie the obi. After completing the two-year (daytime) or three-year (nighttime) curriculum, students can advance to the "Kimono Professional Course" where they can learn more advanced knowledge and techniques. In addition, there are intensive courses, special courses, and off-campus classes for various examinations. Location: 1 Chome-6-8 Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0002
