Traditional Arts Super College of Kyoto (TASK) is a school where students can learn the techniques that have supported Japanese traditions directly from master artisans in the traditional craft industry, and gain the skills necessary to work professionally upon graduation.

To that end, students thoroughly learn basic techniques in their first and second years, and then acquire more advanced techniques in their third and fourth years. At the same time, we offer a systematic curriculum that allows students to acquire design skills and a wide range of knowledge. The Crafts and Craft Creator courses offer the following 10 majors, allowing students to choose and study the craft of their choice. Lacquerware major Maki-e major Ceramics major Wood Carving major Buddhist Statue Sculpture major Woodworking major Metal Crafts major Bamboo Crafts major Kyoto Hand-painted Yuzen course Washi Paper Crafts major In the Cultural Heritage course, students can choose and study the craft of their choice from the four majors listed below. Wood Carving major Buddhist Statue Sculpture major Lacquerware major Maki-e major Application requirements for international students include: (A) Those who: have completed 12 years of school education abroad, or are expected to complete it by March 2026, or those who are equivalent to this and have been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. (B) Those who possess the Japanese language proficiency required to receive education at our school (one of to ③). Have received education for more than one year (12 months) at a Japanese language education institution designated by the Minister of Justice. Have passed N1 or N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (Level 1 or Level 2 in the old test). Have received education for more than one year at a Japanese high school. (C) Students who are able to obtain a "student" status of residence at the time of enrollment (our school will not handle any applications on their behalf).
