Each group will choose one of the following types of paintings: pine, bamboo, plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, or “Kanji” (Chinese characters). Discover the timeless beauty of Japanese Ink Wash painting! Step into the world of Japanese ink wash painting, or "sumi-e," where simplicity meets profound expression. This traditional art form, with its roots in Zen philosophy, captures the essence of nature using just black ink and water. Each brushstroke is a dance of spontaneity and precision, reflecting the artist's inner spirit. Whether it's the delicate portrayal of a bamboo grove or the serene depiction of a mountain landscape, sumi-e invites you to experience the beauty of imperfection and the harmony of contrasts. Explore this captivating art and uncover the stories told through shades of black and white. Plans available: Square Drawing Board: Draw your favorite design on high-quality Japanese paper, Hongasen (27×24cm). 3 Coasters: Draw your favorite design on "Washi", Japanese paper, coasters (9 cm in diameter). Lamp Shade: Draw your favorite design on lamp shade (A 10 cm square size that lights up via USB connection). Hanging Scroll "Kakejiku": Draw your favorite design on "Kakejiku", a Japanese traditional hanging scroll (75×32cm made of Washi paper). You can take them home as special souvenirs.
