Ichihara Co., Ltd. has been honing its umbrella-making techniques for about 80 years and still creates items inspired by the fashions of Tokyo today. Here you can experience some of the delicate work the umbrella-making process requires, the traditions applied by the artisans, and the creative experience of making something fashionable with your own hands. Experiencing the umbrella-making process, you’ll get to try both tip attachment and center stitching, sewing the fabric you selected onto the umbrella frame. The process is divided into dozens of steps and is an important aspect of Tokyo Umbrella’s quality. Tokyo Umbrellas stay beautiful for years. After learning their secrets, you’ll be able to take home an one-of-a-kind umbrella that you’ve sewn yourself.
