Deaf-friendly Tourism (Japan Sign Travel)

At Japan Sign Travel, we believe that travel should be accessible, inclusive, and life-enriching.

Founded with a focus on Deaf-friendly tourism, our mission is to create unforgettable travel experiences where communication is never a barrier, and where new encounters lead to lasting personal growth.

Our founder, Miyu Nakamura, is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), a certified sign language interpreter, and a licensed tour conductor. She is fluent in Japanese, English, Japanese Sign Language (JSL), American Sign Language (ASL), and International Sign (IS).

With her unique background, we offer tours that are not only enjoyable, but also culturally respectful and linguistically accessible. At Japan Sign Travel, we are passionate about creating spaces for new connections – between travelers, between cultures, and within the Deaf community itself.

We believe that meeting new people can broaden perspectives and enrich lives, and we strive to build those opportunities into every journey. We specialize in tours where Deaf and signing travelers can explore Japan with confidence and comfort.

Whether you’re interested in traditional culture, scenic landmarks, or meeting local Deaf people, our team is here to make it happen – with full sign language support, flexible video consultations, and deep cultural insight.

Looking for a custom experience? We offer tailor-made itineraries based on your travel style, schedule, and accessibility needs. From one-day city walks to multi-day cultural journeys, we’ll design a tour just for you. Tell us what you’d like to see – famous shrines, Deaf-owned businesses, hidden neighborhoods, food markets, or community gatherings – and we’ll bring your vision to life, always with sign language support throughout.
