Hondate Shoaizome is a traditional Japanese indigo dyeing technique that uses fermentation. You touch the indigo dye liquid, which is alive with microorganisms, with your bare hands, soak the fabric, wash it, and expose it to the sun and wind.

Payment must be made on the day at the venue (cash or credit card). Capacity: Up to 4 people (please contact us for groups of 5 or more) We will provide aprons and rubber gloves, but please wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. The temperature inside the workshop is about the same as outside. Please be careful about your clothing, especially in the middle of summer and winter. Those under 15 years of age are not permitted to participate. Please arrive within 15 minutes of the reception time. The event will be held rain or shine Please make your reservation at least 3 days before your desired date. We can also accommodate last-minute requests if there are openings, so please feel free to contact us. We will send you a confirmation email within 24 hours of your reservation.
